My favorite Sitcoms

They portray the typical straight-forward and outspoken Betawinese People. There are absolutely hilarious and entertaining.

·         Aminah Cendrakasih(Mak Nyak)                                                              :

Patient, caring, and motherly

 My favorite sitcoms is “Si Doel Anak Sekolahan” . This sitcoms, consider to be the best sitcoms ever in this country, tells about a simple betawinese family. The father and the son, Si Doel, make ends meet by driving a dilapidated oplet (an out-dated public transportation). Despite their hardships and in the face of the high cost of education in this country, the family somehow manages to send the smart and diligent Doel to university.

It’s clear that Indonesian viewers have this longing for down-to-earth realistic, yet amusing shows. We’ve had enough of actors and actresses wearing fancy, extravagant clothing even in their homes and who eat western-style breakfast. In Si Doel Anak Sekolahan, there are no such slap-stick scenes as face-slapping and rolling the eyes. How refreshing it is to see a tired bread-winner (Sabeni/Babeh) relaxing on a divan (bale) and shipping big mug of streaming –hot coffee served by his wife. This sitcoms highlight what common people like us have to go through to earn a decent livelihood and give their children a good education. Never has a film cast made a deeper impression on u than the one of Si Doel. They’re absolutely realistic and convincing
